A composition about a paper bird. Two triangular sails meeting at an angle, sharp tips, a short keel — the form is folded, not modelled: what you read in it is a crease, not a volume. Origami lifted into the air and multiplied into a flock.

The top of the composition is left empty — only a net of cables with point lights. The device is simple and precise: with no support above, the whole mass appears to hover rather than hang.

By day it is a flock of paper birds below the ceiling — gold and clear intermixed, light graphics. In the evening the difference between the finishes sets the rhythm: gold rolls the light across the whole plane of the sail in warm patches, while the clear wings flare only along their ribs in cold sparks. A swarm whose wings are alight.

Where it works

Generous rooms — lobbies, panoramic living rooms, dining rooms, atria. The empty upper zone only works with a high ceiling: otherwise the hovering trick does not read.

Style

Japanese minimalism and contemporary sculpture: the fold instead of ornament. The message is light and poetic — a piece for an interior that refuses to look heavy.
