A composition about round and hard. Asteroids covered in small chips — and straight rods set obliquely between them. Two forms with nothing in common: one was worn down, the other was drawn. The author sets them against each other on purpose.

The bodies form a dense lower mass with a ragged upper contour, a few rising high above it. The rods, by contrast, pierce the upper zone at varied angles and work as hard graphics against the rounded forms.

By day it is an astronomical study laid over a drafting grid: white matte bodies and gold lines. In the evening the light lives in two places at once — it emerges from the joints, lighting the bodies from within in a warm milky tone, and runs as a line along the rods, turning them into glowing strokes. Diffuse and linear glow together: a swarm of asteroids stitched through with gold.

Where it works

Living rooms with high ceilings, lobbies, stairwells, restaurant floors. The rods extend beyond the envelope of the main mass: allow clearance to the sides.
