A composition about a chain that holds nothing. Large irregular links are threaded one through another, each crumpled and twisted, none repeating its neighbour. Together they sag freely and twist about their own axis — a chain stripped of its function and left as form.

Traces of forming remain on the surface — dents and waves — and they read as drawing, not as flaw. The piece has no principal view: from the side and from below it is two different compositions.

By day it is warm gold with greenish and coppery shifts in the shadows, a sculpture working through the plasticity of the link. In the evening the light emerges along the inner rim of each ring and traces it with a glowing line; because the rings pass through one another and face different ways, those lines cross and layer. An interlacing of luminous loops.

Where it works

An elongated horizontal format — long dining tables, bar counters, meeting rooms, lobbies. The sag sets a lower limit: allow clearance beneath.

Style

Brutalist luxury and contemporary Art Deco: the link as a unit of opulence. The message is strong and direct — a piece for an interior with character.
