A composition about the pearl in the shell. A shell grows in annual accretions — several nested layers with wavy edges, spiralling toward an off-centre core, with swellings and folds. There is no regularity, because growth knows none.

The finish is mirrored, and every layer reflects its neighbour: an endless exchange of highlights builds up in the depth of the shell, something no matte form could produce.

By day the object reads as a sculptural shell on the wall — polished gold with cool blue-green reflections along the rims, giving a pearlescent effect. In the evening a matte pearl lights up at the centre: it illuminates all the surrounding layers from within, the gold around it grows hot, and the outer coils stay subdued. The light never strikes the eye — it is always reflected.

Where it works

Entrance halls, corridors, bedrooms at the bedhead, bathrooms, private living rooms, spas. Reflected light without direct glare suits positions beside a mirror or a bed.

Style

Art Nouveau and marine modernism: the shell as a classic motif of preciousness. The message is intimate — a piece for a private space.
