A composition about a thrown handful. The rods hang at wildly varied angles — horizontal, oblique, crosswise — and intersect to form a lattice with no centre and no symmetry. A handful of matches thrown into the air and frozen: there is no order, because there was none at the moment of the throw.

Some rods bunch into tight clusters, others hang alone far from the mass. The cables vanish into darkness and are barely visible.

By day it is a drawing carried into space: polished lines read graphically, with occasional flares on the faceted heads. In the evening the light enters each rod at its upper end and travels to the sphere — which gathers it, breaks it on the facets and flares into a point, while the rod itself stays a cold stroke. Only the glowing heads are visible: a swarm of sparks suspended in the air.

Where it works

Living rooms with high ceilings, stairwells, lobbies, meeting rooms. The lattice builds in the round and has no principal face — it is designed for the specific room.

Style

Contemporary minimalism and the graphic school: line and point, nothing more. The message is intellectual — a piece for an interior that rests on an idea.
