Lighting composition
LC0589
A composition about topography. The upper and lower contours of the field change smoothly along its whole length — like contour lines on a map, like a mountain ridge or an ocean current. Landscape translated into light, quite literally.
The object lives by its depth: the elements stand in layers of differing density, and from every viewpoint the relief reassembles.
By day it is a dense field of verticals with a live contour: a piece read through silhouette and layers, monumental and quiet. In the evening hundreds of warm points come on inside the field — the lights of settlements on a night slope. The colour sets the geography: amber for dunes and sandstone, blue for currents and glaciers, green for valleys after rain.
Where it works
Lobbies, atriums, conference halls, panoramic living rooms, gallery spaces. The relief is designed anew for every interior.
Style
Parametric design and natural aesthetics: the landscape as a form. The message is monumental — a piece that is architecture.
The dimensions of the field, the changes in contour and the density and colour of the elements are all made to order.

@vargov_design →Light composition LC0589 A light composition inspired by the topographic lines of a natural landscape. Hundreds of vertical glass elements form a complex volume recalling at once a mountain relief, ocean currents and the graphics of elevation maps. The upper contour of the composition changes smoothly along the whole length of the object, creating a sense of a living natural form frozen in space. The lower layer of the composition plays a special role. Here the glass elements form a multi-layered pattern of winding lines recalling the contours of relief on topographic maps. Because of the varying depth and density of the elements, the object changes constantly with the point of view. Each colour of glass creates its own mood: — clear amber shades recall sand dunes and rock; — cool blue versions evoke sea currents and glacial landscapes; — deep green shades recall the relief of forests and natural valleys; — rich ruby versions create the image of molten magma and geological faults.
