A composition about a dive. A wing with a bubbled mass flows into a long gold tail-spike — the form of a swallow at the moment it folds its wings and drops.
The composition is built on diagonals: the tails rule the space with swift lines. No element repeats the tilt of its neighbour — the flock is alive.
By day it is gold lines with clear wings: a piece read through diagonals and bubbles seen against the light, sharp and mobile. In the evening light from the gold body floods the wings from within — the flock flies glowing, and the tails remain dark strokes between the patches of light.
Where it works
Spaces with movement — staircases, entrance halls, rooms with high ceilings, galleries. The direction of flight is set along the route from the entrance.
Style
Art Nouveau and contemporary sculpture: the swallow as a classic motif of speed. The message is dynamic — a piece for a space people move through.
The number of birds, the direction of flight and the spread of the flock are all made to order.
