The same shoal in a matte execution. Here the light does not pass right through as it does in the clear version — it comes out from under the wing as a soft halo, and every figure seems lit from below, like a fish above a sandy bottom. One substitution changes the whole character of the scene.

The shoal moves in a wave, rising and falling on cables of differing length, drawn out in a long arc.
