Ice with whatever was in it frozen in place. Bubbles and swirls remain in the mass, so under light the piece looks like a genuine block rather than a coloured shape.

The white elements damp down the intensity of the colour and keep the composition from becoming decorative — they work as pauses, without which the aquamarine would sound insistent.

By day the object recalls a cluster of stalactites — dense, cold, mineral. In the evening it becomes a cave of ice flows lit from somewhere deep inside, where there should be no light at all.

Style

Nordic Art Nouveau and spa aesthetics: stone, water, subdued light, a cold palette. The message is coolness and depth — the composition lowers the temperature of a space and slows it down.
