A bush lit from within. The branches are uneven, knotted, dividing — a form taken from a coral colony or from driftwood tumbled by the sea.

The light hides inside the fringe and emerges only through the gaps, in narrow warm slots. The grain of the finish will not let a beam slide across it: the light breaks up, and the crown shimmers instead of gleaming.

By day it is a metal sculpture on a stem — warm, dense, richly textured. In the evening the cool stem recedes into darkness and only the glowing bush remains, grown out of nothing.
