A composition about the reflected room. Triangular elements with an undulating polished surface are each bowed differently, so the reflections on them stretch and break up as they do on water. The screen does not show itself — it shows what stands before it, distorted.

The main mass is cool, grey with a greenish cast; the gold triangles are gathered not into a pattern but into free diagonal groups — they read as gleams breaking through the metal.

By day it is a mirror without a subject: the screen changes with every step the viewer takes, and it never holds a static reflection. In the evening the light passes through the slots between the faces and flares in the gold cells, while the grey ones stay cold mirrors and go on reflecting the room. The plane lives in two ways at once — by its own light and by borrowed light.

Where it works

Zoning — a partition in a lobby, a screen in a restaurant, a divider beside a staircase, a backdrop behind a bar or reception. A reflective surface visually expands a room: it works where volume is lacking.

Style

Industrial modernism and brutalist luxury: metal as the principal language. The message is contemporary and urban — a piece for an interior with character.
