A composition about a feather cast in mercury. Mirrored crescents with the finest ribbed texture circle in a vortex around an invisible centre — the movement is set by the arrangement rather than by the form.

The mirrored surface gathers the interior and the light around it: the composition is always the colour of its own space — cold in the morning, warm in the evening. Gold finials place the full stops in the whirl.

By day the vortex lives on daylight: the crescents reflect the window, the walls, one another, and the drawing changes as the sun moves. In the evening warm lamplight tints the mirror and the same composition turns golden — the piece has no permanent colour, it takes one from the room.

Where it works

Contemporary interiors — above a staircase, in a dining room, on an accent wall, in an entrance hall. It fixes to a wall or a ceiling and works as graphic art in three dimensions.
