A composition about a bouquet in which the light has opened. From the base rises a bundle of golden stems, and on each a pleated parasol unfurls — a form that reads as a giant water-lily pad, as a flower head and as a sea fan.
The parasols stand at differing heights: a bouquet, not a formation.
By day it is fine botany on gold stems: the corrugation reads through light and shade, and the deep green velvet of the base gives the piece weight and warmth. In the evening light comes on in the gold core of every parasol, rays radiate along the folds, and each disc acquires a halo of its own — a soft shadow below, a glowing relief above. A small garden of light beside an armchair.
Where it works
Beside an armchair, beside a bed, in a private living room, in a boudoir. Several blooms at differing heights replace both a floor lamp and a night light — the light is adjusted by tilting the parasols.
Style
Art Nouveau and contemporary classic: botany with velvet and gilding. The message is intimate and warm — a piece for a private space.
The number and tilt of the parasols, the finish of the stems and the colour of the base are all made to order.

Slender metal stems rise from a massive cylindrical base and open into large decorative elements D300 mm in diameter. Depending on the chosen version, the upper elements can be made of: — art ceramic with a deep surface plasticity; — clear or coloured art glass; — textured crystal with the effect of precious reflections. Each version changes the character of the object. The ceramic elements recall exotic flowers, sea shells or rare tropical plants. Light softly emerges from the centre of the form, emphasising the relief and creating a sense of living bloom. The glass versions look more airy. By day they work as clear art objects with a rich play of reflections, and in the evening they turn into glowing forms with the depth of the material and many inner highlights. Textured crystal gives the object a jewel-like character. Light refracts many times within the structure, creating an effect of shimmer and precious glow. Not merely a light source.
