A composition about a creature that answers the air. Long trains of tentacles — fine threads strung with pearl beads of differing calibre — respond to any movement of air: the object lives even when there is nobody in the room.

The domes with their soft iridescent cast look as though they had only just risen from the deep. The composition is assembled as a shoal: two or three jellyfish at differing heights above a bedside zone, a family of domes above a staircase.

By day it is white with mother-of-pearl — a quiet, almost monochrome piece read through the plasticity of the domes and the rhythm of the beads. In the evening a warm light comes on inside the domes and the pearls shimmer along the whole length of the trains: the jellyfish glows not itself but through what it draws behind it.

Where it works

Bedrooms, bathrooms, spa areas, children's rooms, spaces beside water. The trains set the lower boundary and need somewhere they will not be brushed against.
