A composition about the sky before a storm. The lilac tone fills from within — the colour the air takes on a few minutes before rain. The author takes exactly that state rather than the flower as such.

The branches divide freely, the flowers look down and to the side, the blossoms gather in clusters: this is not a strict composition but a fragment of a living hedge lifted to the ceiling.

By day it is smoky lilac on silver — a restrained, almost monochrome piece read through the ribbing of the petals. In the evening a warm point lights inside every flower, the lilac fills from within, and the composition gives a soft, faintly cool light. Dusk hung from the ceiling.

Where it works

Bedrooms, boudoirs, lounges, private living rooms. Soft diffused light without glare suits rest areas; the lilac register asks for restrained surroundings.
