Floor lamp — light sculpture

LC0194

A composition about the depth of water. Elongated leaves of deep bottle green shading into transparency at the rim — a colour that belongs to a body of water, not to its surface. Large smooth curves catch and stretch reflections, so the object never looks the same from two positions.

The leaves are laid in overlapping layers in a spiral. The top is dense, below the rim breaks off cleanly and only bare rods continue — the thicket is lifted above the floor, like weed torn loose from the bed.

By day it is a clear sculpture: the green reads as dense, almost stone-like. In the evening light enters the body from the edge and spreads across the whole plane of the leaf — the green fills from within and turns emerald, while the gold of the rods shows through, adding a warm vein to a cold colour. The thicket comes alive.

Where it works

A saturated colour needs a calm ground — living rooms, winter gardens, spas, reception rooms, restaurant interiors. It works well by a window, where daylight is added to the artificial.

Style

Art Nouveau and organic modernism: the same line as the vases of Gallé and Daum. The message is collector-minded — a piece for someone who chooses colour as the principal argument.

The column height, the number of leaves, the depth of the green tone and the metal finish are all made to order.
