Light as art

Floor lamp

LC0161

A composition about a thicket. The calla is a flower that does not open but wraps itself around: a funnel with a turned rim and a drawn-out tip. The author repeats it dozens of times, sets each on its own rod and gathers the rods into a bundle — the result is not a bouquet but a thicket that has grown on its own.

The flowers run the full height of the column in tiers, turned in different directions and overlapping. The lower half is left bare: only rods on a round disc — stems without foliage, as real callas have.

By day it is a clear sculpture of a thicket — milky white on chrome, cool and graphic. In the evening the light passes through the thin walls of the funnels and lights every flower entire in a soft milky tone; the chromed rods reflect that light and multiply it deep inside the column. A field of flowers glowing from within.

Where it works

Living rooms, bedrooms, spas, reception rooms, winter gardens. Soft diffuse light without glare — the lamp works as a source of mood rather than as working light.

Style

Art Nouveau and Scandinavian minimalism: a botanical motif stripped of decorativeness. The message is lyrical — a piece for an interior that loves quiet.

The column height, the number of flowers, the tone of the glow and the finish of the rods are all made to order.
