A composition about plumage. The feathers are laid overlapping in a ring, their tips facing outward and inward at once: the outer row sets a radiant contour, the inner one closes the middle, leaving a dark opening at the centre. The piece reads both as a wreath and as an open wing curled into a circle.

The palette is built on transition: one part of the wreath in deep blue-green with a metallic sheen, the opposite in warm ochre and gold, with a gradual flow between them. The colour changes around the circle exactly as it does in the plumage of a real bird — not in patches but by shift.

By day the panel works through pure graphics and colour: the finely worked barbs give a ribbed surface that catches the light in bands. In the evening the backlight emerges along the rims and traces every feather with a gold line — the mass gains volume, and you can see where the feathers lie two deep and where only one.

Where it works

Feature walls — halls, living rooms, private studies, reception areas. The round form asks for a clear wall with no neighbouring objects: the panel works as the sole object.

Style

Art Deco and jewellery modernism: the feather as a classic motif of opulence. The message is decorative and expensive — a picture-piece rather than a luminaire.
