LC0082
A composition about a whirlpool. Instead of even rings the frame is wound into a large spiral fold — the surface rotates around the centre like a funnel, or fabric twisted into a rope. The relief is deep, with pronounced crests and troughs.
The opening is not perfectly round but slightly faceted: the frame encroaches on it with uneven projections, so the boundary between relief and reflection is alive rather than drawn with a compass.
By day the piece reads through plasticity: leaf gold with heavy patina, pale and almost white on the crests, drifting into dark bronze in the hollows, with bluish veining between the folds. In the evening, under directional light, the spiral throws long twisting shadows and the frame begins to rotate before your eyes. The convex plate draws the whole room into itself — a whirlpool with a window at its centre.
Where it works
Entrance halls, living rooms, boudoirs, private studies, reception areas. The effect depends on side light: allow for a directional source.
Style
Baroque plasticity in a contemporary reading: movement set in the frame. The message is dramatic — a piece for an interior that likes strong forms.
The diameter, the depth of the relief, the gilding finish and the shape of the opening are all made to order.
