A composition about growth. Segments with rounded sides are stacked one on another, each throwing off short offshoots — the form reads at once as coral, as a spine and as a cactus. The ambiguity is deliberate: the author takes the general principle of growth rather than any single species.

The glaze runs unevenly, with drips, and the object looks grown rather than cast. Openings of varying calibre are cut through the whole body — from fist-sized down to small points — and their inner surfaces are gold.

By day it is a dense sculpture: warm white with a cream cast or deep blue with a grey undertone, opaque and matte. In the evening the light emerges from the openings in narrow warm beams while the column itself stays dark — the same device as a coal: cold shell, burning core. The base is reduced to a minimum, so the mass seems to stand of its own accord.

A second finish exists, faced in preserved moss, where a living green texture replaces the glaze.

Where it works

Halls, living rooms, spas, showrooms, reception rooms, restaurant interiors. Fragmentary light gives atmosphere rather than illumination: a second source is needed nearby.

Style

Biodesign and organic modernism: growth as the form-giving principle. The message is natural and contemporary — a piece for an interior with character.
