Sconce — wall sculpture

A composition about a pen drawing. The light travels along the edges of the folds and gathers into a shimmer of contour: the silhouette of the wall light is drawn in light rather than flooded with it.
Two corrugated smoky fans meet on a chrome sphere — the point of attraction for the whole composition; gold sparks are scattered through the mass of the fans.
By day the undulating relief makes the surface alive: with every step the reflections reassemble, the gold inclusions flare and fade, and the depth of the smoky tone opens anew. In the evening the edges of the folds light up and the piece becomes a contour drawing on the wall — the volume goes, the line remains.
Where it works
Hallways, living rooms, bedrooms, corridors. In a paired version two wall lights enter into a dialogue and set one rhythm on a wall — no longer a luminaire but a wall sculpture.
Style
Art Deco and contemporary sculpture: the fold and the sphere as the entire vocabulary. The message is expressive — a piece for a wall that needs an accent.
The execution of the fans, their number and the composition on the wall are all made to order.
