A composition about autumn. Colour decides everything: burnt ochre, ash, warm bronze — a muted autumnal register, rare in light compositions, where white and gold usually prevail.

The petals go deep in layers, by the hundred, and the flower reads as a volume even from a distance. At the core of each is a matte white sphere, the nucleus around which the whole mass is gathered.

By day it is a branch in terracotta and ash: warm, earthy, read through the volume of the petals. In the evening the white cores light up and the layers of petals around them are lit layer by layer — from a bright centre to a blind edge. Flowers with a burning core.

Where it works

Dining rooms, libraries, interiors with wood and leather, studies. The earthy register asks for warm finishes around it — against a white wall the composition looks foreign.

Style

Natural Art Nouveau and autumnal classicism: fading as an aesthetic. The message is warm and adult — a piece for a lived-in interior.
