The same water lily taken out of the composition. A single disc with a fractured texture on a short curved bracket that comes out of the wall and holds the leaf at an angle, like a real stem. The piece is reduced to a minimum — and the texture reads more clearly for it than it does in the cluster.

Close up the essential thing is visible: the cleavage is deep, the facets number in the dozens, and no two lie in the same plane.

By day the wall light works as a wall sculpture: a relief catching daylight from the window, a quiet piece. In the evening light from the core goes into the mass and comes out around the whole perimeter, tracing the disc with a glowing contour — a soft background source that neither dazzles nor throws hard shadows.

Where it works

Solo beside a mirror, in a pair flanking a bedhead, in a series along a corridor — in a row the tilts of the discs can be alternated. The absence of hard shadows suits bedrooms and zones beside a mirror.

Style

Art Nouveau and natural modern: one leaf instead of a composition. The message is intimate — a piece for a wall that does not need an accent.
