A window where there is no window. The panel solves a problem a picture cannot: it gives not an image but a condition — the view into a conservatory early in the morning.

The effect rests on blur: the near leaves read sharply, the far ones dissolve into a luminous haze. The matte face removes definition, and the greenery stops being an object and becomes atmosphere.

By day the panel works as a decorative inset in the wall — calm, almost unnoticed. In the evening the backlight brings it forward, and a windowless room acquires a window into a winter garden.
