A composition about a gaze from the depths. A large disc with dense radial pleating — hundreds of fine petals running from the centre to an uneven rim — holds a round mirror at its middle. The reflection is set inside a living form: whoever looks sees themselves inside an anemone.

Beside it two smaller satellite discs without mirrors, and around them crumpled "stones" with a mirrored glaze — some gold, some chrome. They scatter from the centre in uneven groups and give the whole composition movement.

By day the object works as a sculptural mirror with satellites: a deep tone running from charcoal grey to plum, coppery shifts along the petal rims, mirror and glaze catching the room. In the evening the backlight emerges along the contours of the discs, brings out the relief of the pleating and reflects in the glaze of the stones — a colony lit on the wall.

Where it works

Entrance halls, dressing rooms, bathrooms, boudoirs, private living rooms. The mirror is functional, so mounting height is set by the user, not by the composition.

Style

Marine Art Nouveau and contemporary decorative sculpture. The message is intimate — a piece for a space where people are alone with themselves.
