A composition about a whirlpool. The folds run in coils around an off-centre opening, welling over one another and narrowing toward the middle: a funnel, fabric twisted into a rope, a section through a shell — the form reads several ways at once and none of them to the end.
The surface is mirrored, so every coil reflects its neighbour and the frame acquires its own depth, independent of the reflection in the plate. The piece turns out to be dimensional twice over.
By day it is polished gold with cool blue-green reflections deep in the folds and wear along the crests — the frame lives on the reflections of the room. In the evening a small matte sphere lights up in the lower fold: it gives a soft glow from below and grazes the whole spiral, bringing out the relief. Reflection and frame together pull the eye into a single point.
Where it works
Entrance halls, living rooms, boudoirs, private studies, gallery walls. The asymmetry needs a clear wall — the piece is not hung in a row.
Style
Baroque plasticity in a contemporary reading: movement set in metal. The message is dramatic — a piece for an interior that likes strong forms.
The diameter, the depth of the spiral, the metal finish and the position of the sphere are all made to order.

Around it a soft warm glow, as if light were born in the depths and cautiously making its way out. The composition works as introspection — an invitation to look within yourself.
