Wall-and-ceiling decorative composition
LC0600
A composition in two layers. The first is the hemispheres themselves with their engraved coral pattern: branching, cellular, radial structures, no two drawings alike. The second is the shadow: under a point source the engraving throws a second, shadow composition onto the wall and ceiling, and the drawing begins to live apart from the object.
The convex surface holds the pattern in three dimensions, and it reads differently from every position.
By day it is graphic art turned object: clear, powdery pink, blue, turquoise and smoky bronze hemispheres with the finest white line — an oceanic collection gathered not in an album but in space. In the evening the second layer comes on, and a shadow repeating the pattern appears on the wall — the object doubles.
Where it works
An intimate group above a console or a continuous coral field across a whole wall; on a ceiling the composition opens like a flowering above water — in spa areas and beside a pool it is reflected and doubles once more.
Style
Marine modern and the graphic school: the drawing as the content. The message is collectorly — a piece for an interior that is examined.
The make-up of the hemispheres, their diameters and their tones are all made to order.
