One element of the flock taken in close-up. The contour seems to hold the light inside a given silhouette and keep it from spreading: an unbroken line of gold encloses a clear faceted spindle.
The piece is reduced to a minimum — and the precision of the lines reads more clearly for it than it does in the large composition.
By day, switched off, the wall light remains a jeweller's object on the wall: pure form, faceting, nothing surplus. In the evening the facets gather the rays into a vertical line, the spindle becomes a glowing core, and the gold lights up as a warm contour — the light turns out to be caught in a setting.
Where it works
Solo beside a bedhead or a mirror, in a pair flanking a portal, in a rhythmic series along a corridor. It also works as a companion to the large LC0584 composition, continuing its plasticity on the wall.
Style
Art Deco and jewelled Art Nouveau: the setting as a device. The message is spare — a piece for a wall for which one detail is enough.
The size, the finish of the contour and the character of the faceting are all made to order.
