The 3D model of your composition in FBX for 3ds Max

Not a single library element, but the composition you assembled for your room: threads, ceiling fixings and colours, at real size — and a few hundred kilobytes, not tens of megabytes.

The Vargov®Design configurator (vargov.design) assembles a composition in the browser. Once it is calculated, the composition downloads as an FBX model and opens in 3ds Max — with no request to us and no conversion through a third tool.

What you can download

01

FBX of the assembled composition

The whole composition: element bodies, fittings, threads and ceiling fixings. The file is built for your configuration, not for an article, and drops into a render scene as it is.

02

Ready-made article models

A single element — on 3ddd.ru and 3dsky.org, in max and fbx. That is a library model of one article, not your assembly; useful before a composition is put together.

03

The same model from a production brief

If a brief has been issued for the composition, the model downloads from the brief's 3D configuration page — there the file is named after the brief number, so it does not get lost among downloads.

IFC4 is the neighbouring export of the same window: it carries the BIM properties that FBX does not.

How to open the model in 3ds Max

The file needs no preparation — it is written for import into Max; the sequence is always the same:

01Assemble the composition in the configurator and wait for the calculation.
02Open “3D composition scheme” → “Documents” and press “Download FBX (3ds Max)” — the button sits in the same drawer, right under “Download IFC (BIM)”.
03In 3ds Max, bring the file in with a plain import. There is nothing to rescale: the file declares its scale, so a 1500 mm composition arrives as 1500 mm whatever the system units are.
04There is nothing to rotate either: the file declares Y as the up axis, and the importer turns it into the Z-up Max expects. The model stays the one you saw in the window.
05Assign materials per object: element bodies, threads and fixings are separate in the tree, and repeated shapes share one geometry — a material on an instance lands on all of them at once.

If the file opens differently from what you expect, write to info@vargov.ru with the program name and version.

What is inside the file

Five kinds of object: element bodies, fittings, threads, ceiling fixings and a rectangle of the ceiling zone. Glass and fittings are kept apart — that is what the export was made for.
Repeated shapes share a single geometry: a composition of 91 elements comes out as 547 objects in the tree and 528 KB in the file. Merged into one object, the same bodies would weigh tens of megabytes.
Colour, opacity and matt finish on every kind — the same as in the configurator window. There are no textures.
The file unit is a millimetre and vertices are not rescaled: a 1500 mm composition opens as 1500 mm.
The scene zero is the ceiling and the up axis is Y; the importer turns it into the Z-up Max expects, and the model stays the one in the window.
The file name carries the article and the size of the assembled composition: among a dozen downloads it is clear which is which.

Who needs this

A visualiser

Put the actual composition into the scene instead of a lookalike from a library, and assign your own materials per object.

An interior designer

Show the client the composition in their own interior before ordering — at the size and in the configuration that were discussed.

An architect

Check the composition in the volume of the room. For a project model with mass, loads and fixing points there is a separate IFC4 export.

What the file does not carry

01BIM properties: mass, load per fixing point, suspension type and the rest live in the IFC4 export, not here. FBX carries geometry and colour.
02Textures and material maps: bodies carry colour, opacity and a matt value — the rest the visualiser sets up for their own scene.
03The brief number in the file name: it appears only when the model is downloaded from a brief page.
04A model for articles calculated individually: the configurator does not calculate them, so there is nothing to export — those are put together with the brand's engineer.

Questions and answers

01

How do I download a chandelier 3D model in FBX?

Assemble the composition in the Vargov®Design configurator, open “3D composition scheme” → “Documents” and press “Download FBX (3ds Max)”. No account is needed.

02

Will the model arrive at the right size?

Yes. The file declares its scale, so a 1500 mm composition opens as 1500 mm whatever the system units in 3ds Max are — nothing has to be rescaled.

03

Do I have to rotate the model after import?

No. The file declares Y as the up axis, and the importer turns it into the Z-up Max expects. The model stays the one you saw in the configurator window.

04

How is this different from a ready-made model on 3ddd.ru?

The stock sites hold a model of a single article — one library element. The configurator gives you the whole assembled composition: the number of elements, their layout, threads, fixings and frame.

05

Does the FBX carry mass and fixing loads?

No, those are BIM properties — they are in the IFC4 export of the same window. FBX carries geometry, colour and opacity.

06

Can I download a model of a ribbon?

Yes. Ribbons have their own export button in the ribbon panel; the file is built the same way, from the same kinds of object.
